Ridvan Slivova

Ridvan Slivova is one of Kosovo’s most prominent photojournalists and one of the visual witnesses to the country’s modern history. He began his professional career as a photographer for the newspaper Rilindja, at a time when photography and journalism were becoming increasingly important tools for documenting political and social developments in Kosovo. Through his lens, Slivova documented moments of resistance, repression, and war, creating a photographic archive of exceptional historical and human value.

Between 1990 and 1999, his work as a photojournalist repeatedly exposed him to danger. He was arrested approximately 20 times by Serbian forces because of his work and the photographs he took in the field. Slivova’s photographs are significant not only as evidence of historical events, but also because they capture the lives of ordinary people during an extraordinary period in Kosovo’s history. His contribution represents a form of journalism that, through the power of images, preserves testimony from a time that might otherwise have remained undocumented.
