Alban Bujari

Alban Bujari (1970 – 2025) was one of Kosovo’s most prominent photojournalists and a direct witness to both the war and post-war periods. He began his career in 1997 at the newspaper Koha Ditore, at a time when Kosovo was entering one of the most dramatic phases of its modern history.

During 1998 – 1999, Bujari documented the unfolding war, the movement of refugees, and the lives of civilians in areas affected by the conflict. His photographs were also published by prestigious international media outlets, including Time, The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Guardian, and El País.

His work extended far beyond the war years. For decades, he continued to document Kosovo’s political and social life. His photographic collection remains an important visual record of Kosovo’s transition from war to peace and state-building. Bujari passed away on the 27th of February 2025, leaving behind a significant photographic archive.
