On June 26, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the Reporting House hosted the opening of the exhibition \u201cFragments of Survival\u201d by 18-year-old artist Hussein al-Jerjawi from Gaza, curated by Gazmend Ejupi. The exhibition is currently on display at the Reporting House Gallery in Prishtina. If conditions on the ground allow, Hussein will connect live with the Reporting House audience via video link from Gaza to share his personal journey of resistance through art \u2014 painting on humanitarian aid sacks of flour as a powerful act of survival, memory, and defiance.<\/p>\n
Displaced five times since the outbreak of war in October 2023, Hussein has transformed his trauma into a visual protest, using the simplest available material \u2014 using UNRWA aid sacks as canvases.<\/p>\n
His symbolic and striking paintings reflect the fractured existence of life under siege and tell a story that goes beyond statistics and news headlines. \u201cWhen I paint on a sack of flour, I feel like I am writing our history with a brush dipped in pain and resilience,\u201d Hussein al-Jerjawi told Al-Jazeera.<\/p>\n
