Discussion with Feride Rushiti – Nobel Prize Nominee

On May 2, 2025, at Reporting House, Feride Rushiti, founder and director of QKRT, discussed the adverse effects of the Trump Administration’s aid cuts to two vital mental health and psychosocial projects. She highlighted the disruption of activities, such as the project with school psychologists in Gjilan and Prishtina, and stressed the importance of maintaining these services to address trauma and sexual violence.

Rushiti said talks are underway with local and international organizations to secure temporary support and find new donors, hoping these projects will resume after a review. The Trump Administration’s decision, which also affects USAID contractors globally, has worsened the situation, as USAID has been one of the largest donors in Kosovo, supporting economic development, anti-corruption efforts, and strengthening democracy for more than 25 years.
