Documentary film screening “Trapped by Law,” by a Kosovar-French director

On Saturday, September 27, at 15:30, Reporting House hosted a screening of the documentary “Trapped by Law” followed by a conversation with Sami Mustafa — a Kosovar Roma documentary filmmaker based in France.

The film tells the real-life story of two brothers, Kefaet and Selami, who are deported from Germany to Kosovo — a country they don’t know and whose language they don’t speak. A powerful story about forced reintegration, family separation, and growing up in exile, filmed over the course of three years.

“Trapped by Law” was awarded Best Film at the New York Film Festival (2016) and the Discovery Young Talent Award at the Cottbus Film Festival (2014).

During the event, Mustafa also shared insights into his upcoming film project, supported by the Kosovo Cinematography Center, and the next edition of the Rolling Film Festival, organized by his production company Romawood.
